7/12/13 I read 2 Nephi chapter's 5-9:
And it came to pass that after much reading of the writings of the accounts of the Messiah, his birth, Crucifixion, Resurrection and the gathering of Israel, I Jana, have pondered much according to the thoughts of my heart pertaining to mine own testimony of Christ ... (too much? I warned you, I have indeed been hanging out with Nephi ... LOL)!
I quote from the Feb 1990 issue of the Ensign;
" 2 Nephi does not contain much history. Rather, with the exception of the brief account of Lehi’s death and the dividing of the Lamanites from the Nephites (see 2 Ne. 4:12–14; 2 Ne. 5:1–34), the book is a collection of the writings of four witnesses—Lehi, Jacob, Isaiah, and Nephi himself—each testifying of their Redeemer and of his works. (See 2 Ne. 1:15; 2 Ne. 11:2–3.) Bearing witness of him was their primary purpose. Nephi wrote: “We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.” (2 Ne. 25:26.)" -Bruce A. I have reflected a great deal about my own Testimony of the Savior. Knowing the Savior and understanding and applying the atonement to our lives is significant to our survival! Without these teachings from the Prophets, we could never understand, let alone apply the teachings to our own lives.
MY TESTIMONY
written by me Jana Jeppson
Jesus was betrayed.
He was denied, accused and rejected.
They bound Him and scourged Him.
They mocked, reviled and spit on him.
He atoned for our sins in Gethsemane
bleeding from every pore...
he bled for me.
He was nailed to a beam and hung on a cross and
In the ninth hour He cried unto His Father feeling forsaken ...
and then He died.
In three days He rose ...
He suffered, died and was resurrected
that I might have eternal life!
I praise His name!
He is the greatest man that ever lived. There is no-one who will matter as much or make the same difference as this solitary life. It is through Him and only through Him that we will have life eternal. No unclean thing can enter into heaven. Because of His great love for us He was willing to pay the price...a debt He did not owe, for people, like me, who can not pay! He carries my burden and He carries me into the loving arms of my Father day by day if I walk with Him.
I bare testimony of the truth of these words. My heart is filled as I have read thus far in this book that these words are true and everlasting.
I bare this testimony in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ
Amen.
