What If ....

What if I could travel back in time

to right a wrong or fix

a mistake.

Would I leave it up 

to my younger self

to change things ...

If I spoke to her ... 

Would she listen?

Would she make different choices

that might alter her path of life ...

perhaps changing her destiny?

Would she believe the words

I'd say,

If I told her where she was headed

on the path that leads to now?

I doubt it.

An old woman showing up from nowhere

begging her to be brave ...

to take risks ...

to dream big!

She would think the woman crazy!

I know ...

because I knew her well .

That younger me ...

And so I sit here,

middle aged

and ponder 

the one regret I have ...

I was not brave.

And I imagine an elder me

might think these thoughts 

and journey to the time

I know as now ...

I hear her say,

"Be Brave ...

don't live in fear ...

Just hold the hand of God,

let Him lead you to tomorrow,

He knows the way.

Just trust Him ...

and be brave."

I would listen now,

because the woman I have become

is seasoned with what if ...

what if I had been brave ...

and perhaps I know

that now, 

I can be brave.

Braver than I ever thought that

I could be.
